This study examines the use of a natural concept in Bangka traditional expressions using cognitive semantic analysis, namely Kövecses' conceptualization metaphor. Data were obtained from a book of Bangka traditional expressions written by Khaliffitriansyah, Karyani, and Prayoga (2016). This research uses metaphor conceptualization as a theory, so it only uses metaphorical data. Based on the findings, 20 data containing metaphorical forms were found to be classified based on the conceptualization. Bangka traditional expressions contain metaphors formed in the concept of nature as the most used concept, including using plants, animals, and not man-made entities such as stars, stones, and water.
Nurul Ismaniar Oktiva Herry Chandra Copyright (c) 2024 Nurul Ismaniar, Oktiva Herry Chandra https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-05-01 2024-05-01 7 2 175 186 10.30872/diglosia.v7i2.886 Serawai sebagai bahasa minoritas (sebuah kajian ekolinguistik dalam pembelajaran dan pemertahanan) https://www.diglosiaunmul.com/index.php/diglosia/article/view/913
The purpose of this research is to analyze the role of the environment in the learning and preservation of the Serawai language, also known as ecolinguistics. A qualitative approach with a descriptive method is used in this research to describe the result of the interview and observation of the Serawai language. The subject of this research is a group of Serawai speakers who live in Bogor. The instrument of this research is the interview. Data analysis was conducted through five stages, namely data collection, data reduction, data grouping, data analysis, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the user community still uses the Serawai language, but it is expected to experience a shift or even extinction. It is caused by the decreasing use of the Serawai language and the lack of Serawai language learning for children. Environmental factors also play an important role in the formation of Serawai language conversation, but the influence is limited. Children who live in a Serawai language environment tend to become bilingual or even multilingual because the learning environment is also multilingual. In addition, parents are also less serious about teaching the Serawai language; some even switch to other languages.
Andestend Andestend Salati Asmahasana Luzi Pebriani Gita Putri Amalia Shaliha Copyright (c) 2024 Andestend Andestend, Salati Asmahasana, Luzi Pebriani, Gita Putri Amalia Shaliha https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-05-01 2024-05-01 7 2 187 198 10.30872/diglosia.v7i2.913 Kearifan lokal dalam Kumpulan Cerita dari Kota 1001 Goa: kajian antropologi sastra https://www.diglosiaunmul.com/index.php/diglosia/article/view/931
The purpose of this research is to explore the values of local wisdom reflected in the stories, which include aspects of Pacitan community life such as religious system or religious ceremonies, community system, knowledge system, language, art, livelihood system, and tool system. The research method used is qualitative with a literary anthropology approach. The data were obtained through the data collection technique of listening and recording of quotations or sentences contained in the book “Kumpulan Cerita dari Kota 1001 Goa”. The analysis was carried out by dividing the data based on the identified local wisdom and then analyzing through description and interpretation of the research data. The results showed the existence of seven elements of local wisdom in the collection of stories, namely 9 data on religious systems and religious ceremonies, 3 data on community systems, 5 data on knowledge systems, 3 data on language, 4 data on art, 4 data on livelihood systems, and 8 data on tool systems. The existence of these seven elements is reflected in “Kumpulan Cerita dari Kota 1001 Goa” and can be revealed through an anthropology of literature approach.
Rima Damayanti Khusnul Fatimah Ahmad Bahrudin Copyright (c) 2024 Rima Damayanti, Khusnul Fatimah, Ahmad Bahrudin https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-05-01 2024-05-01 7 2 199 212 10.30872/diglosia.v7i2.931 Konstruksi women empowerment dalam film Memoria https://www.diglosiaunmul.com/index.php/diglosia/article/view/923
Women empowerment is a form of women's resistance to the domination of power and gender-based violence. This research aims to reveal the construction of women empowerment in the film Memoria (2016) by Kamila Andini through analysis of the film's narrative structure and cinematographic elements. The identification of the film's narrative structure uses Gérard Genette's narratology theory through the concept of focalization and the identification of cinematographic aspects using Metz semiotics. The method used in the research is the descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques were carried out by reviewing film sequences, literature studies, and identifying cinematographic aspects. The results show that Maria's focalization dominates the story, moves the story, and there are six grand syntagmas, namely descriptive syntagma, parallel syntagma, bracket syntagma, scene, episodic sequence, and insert subjective. Analyzing the narrative structure and the cinematographic aspects of the film through a series of syntagms, both represent the construction of women empowerment continuously. Maria is a woman who survives various life challenges and can heal the trauma within herself. The healing process starts from within oneself (self-healing) and then sharing stories (sharing) with family or trusted people. These things are steps toward freedom, justice, and women empowerment.
Nita Puspita Sari Suma Riella Rusdiarti Copyright (c) 2024 Nita Puspita Sari, Suma Riella Rusdiarti https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-05-01 2024-05-01 7 2 213 226 10.30872/diglosia.v7i2.923 White superiority in Flannery O’connor’s The Barber and The Artificial Nigger https://www.diglosiaunmul.com/index.php/diglosia/article/view/926
This research analyzes two short stories created by Flannery O’Connor entitled “The Barber” and “The Artificial Nigger” which depict the ideology of white superiority by scrutinizing the context of the stories and discussing the homology between the texts and the contexts. Data were analyzed using qualitative methods, and the theory used was genetic structuralism by Lucien Goldmann. Primary data concerning white superiority were taken from both short stories. Secondary data about socio-cultural and historical facts of white superiority in America in the 1940s -1950s were taken from journal articles and books. The research results show similarities between literary works and socio-historical conditions in the year when the literary works were written. The author’s worldview shows that she wants to represent the ideology of white superiority that has oppressed the black race. Through these short stories, the author wants to illustrate how cruel and difficult it is to fight the ideology of white superiority.
Muhammad Fawzi Abdullah Aziz Erna Cahyawati Hadi Sampurna Copyright (c) 2024 Muhammad Fawzi Abdullah Aziz, Erna Cahyawati, Hadi Sampurna https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-05-01 2024-05-01 7 2 227 236 10.30872/diglosia.v7i2.926 Interferensi bahasa Indonesia terhadap bahasa Sunda dalam karangan berbahasa Sunda siswa SMP https://www.diglosiaunmul.com/index.php/diglosia/article/view/954
The number of Sundanese language speakers is 34 million, according to the 2020 census by BPS. However, many young urban Sundanese do not speak Sundanese. Salminen and UNESCO say the language situation is considered vulnerable and endangered. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek) states that the vitality of the Sundanese language is safe. This research aims to describe the interference of the Indonesian language on Sundanese language writing in compositions of the young Sundanese generation. Interference is one of the characteristics of language users' poor understanding of the language they use. The high level of Indonesian language interference in Sundanese student compositions shows that students have a poor understanding of Sundanese. The study uses a qualitative descriptive method. Analysis was conducted using Sundanese letters, words, and sentences based on the theory and Sundanese language dictionary. The study results show that Indonesian language interference in Sundanese student compositions occurs in phonology, morphology, and syntax with low categories. It indicates that the Sundanese language skills of the young generation in Bandung are good. Therefore, the vitality of the Sundanese language is still considered safe according to the Ministry's decision.
Enang Rusyana Raden Utami Nur Rohmah Copyright (c) 2024 Enang Rusyana, Raden Utami Nur Rohmah https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-05-01 2024-05-01 7 2 237 246 10.30872/diglosia.v7i2.954
